Andrew Bird Is a Complete Genious!

Weather Systems by Andrew Bird

quiet
quiet down she said
speaking to the back of his head
on the edge of her bed
i can see your blood flow
your cells grow

hold still a while
don’t spill the wine
i can see it all from here
i can see
i can see
weather systems of the world

and every time you turn the soil
another cloud begins to boil

some things you say
are not for sale
i would hold that we’re
all free agents
of a substance or scale

hold still a while
don’t spill the wine
i can see it all from here
i can see
i can see
weather systems of the world

Don't Be Scared by Andrew Bird

whenever paul thinks of rain, swallows fall in a wave and tap on his window with their beaks
whenever paul thinks of snow, soft winds blow round his head and his phone rings just once
late at night-like a bird calling out, "wake up, paul. don't be scared. don't believe you're all alone."
"wake up, paul," whisper clouds rolling by and the seeds falling softly from the branches of the trees.

“Maggie"

I will wait for you, will you wait for me?
Time, like water slips through your hands
I’m with you, but time means nothing
Time is not lacing us together
Only a boundary to keep us apart
Oceans growing in between us

Dividing the continents into fragments
They’re shattered; will you use your glue?
So they wouldn’t be separated by any human means.
Play pretend we’re not losing this game
I’m shattered, shattered
I hope you leave behind your glue.

Sun

I love the plants, they greet me.
Fire from my veins, clothes you in warmth,
Yet you destroy me with your machines.
I am the very breathe that keeps your planet.

I can not move, but watch longingly as
Stars shoot through the sky, playing games of tag.
Shooting Stars run free leaving a sparkling trail of diamonds behind them,
They are beautiful from where they are.

Although all of the others circle around me, I feel no comfort.
They are free, to circumnavigate the solar system, I am chained.
They know not what it’s like.
Lonely I feel, wishing to play as the others do.

Oh to shoot through the sky, like I was meant to do!
From afar I seem kind,
But I am fiery, raging,
Lonely, Sun.

"Welcome, Spring!"

Welcome, spring!
By: Beth Baber

Laying in the cool, crisp grass,
Sun’s warmth caresses your body
Wind rustles your hair
Whispers spring promises in your ear
Release.

Smell the excitement, new beginnings.
Heart skips a beat.
Hear the plants growing, stretching their leaves to greet the sun.
Happiness seeps through your skin,
And flows to your thoughts
Calm.

A bead of sweat slides down your back.
Hot sun has come out to gives salutations.
Cold drink refreshes.
Smell of fresh cut grass fills the air.
Breathe.

All the animals awake,
To stretch their weary bones.
A butterfly lands on your arm.
Open your eyes,
A Creepy Spider!
Run!

"Destruction"

Destruction
By: Beth Baber

Oh those words!
Those vile, words,
That spill out of your mouth
And fill the air with
sounds of death.

Utter and Complete
Hate.
The webs you weave,
Those lies you spin.
Monster.

“Am I the monster?”
You ask, when reality does set in.
Every person can destroy,
By opening their mouth
You know not of the damage you inflict,

"Imagine"

“Imagine.”
By: Beth Baber

The depths of the
Heart and mind,
released only by
Serene dreams so sweet
And kind.

Imagination soars
And takes flight
pieces taken from the cell of the
dreamer’s heart the fragments of
bliss in which they delight.

Only here can a
weary soul find rest
peace and serenity.
Intricate dreams do form,
In the sleeping minds of the blessed.

Oh sweet dreams!
The tranquil place of spotless minds.
Where the imagination does soar,
And the heart and soul are joined.
No better peace to find.

Careless
By: Beth Baber

At the root of my fury,
Lies the driving force
Of my anger,
Passion, my dear.

All this trouble simply because,
I want to be with
You.

Words, that so effortlessly
Spill out of your mouth and
Drill their way in my head,
It’s so easy to believe you.

This was a disaster,
From those cursed beginnings,
To those blessed ends.
In between we found ourselves.

But now its gone
So we’ll move on,
And know that this is the end.

Oh miserable night,
We’ve all lost ourselves
And our side
I believed in what you said.

You’ve won,
Accept the outcome,
Not just what’s been gained,
But the Battle wounds,
And the broken houses

Forgiving is my nature,
So I’ll forget what shouldn’t
Be forgot.
And move on.
